I got very excited about the benefits of turmeric so I went and got a turmeric dietary supplement. This was in the form of capsules made by a very well established ayurvedic company. I had a capsule a day for 3 days and then decided to look at the contents.

The label said:
Haridra…400mg
Other ingredients: Bronopol, Sunset yellow, Iron oxide yellow, Titanium dioxide & Brilliant blue.

The dosage recommended was “one capsule twice daily, or as directed by your physician”.

Then I got on to the internet and looked for side effects and toxicity of these substances. This is what I found:

Bronopol: Mild to moderate toxicity, where ingestion, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are common.
Sunset yellow has been known to cause side effects such as a runny nose, nasal congestion, hives, allergies, kidney tumors, chromosomal damage, hyperactivity, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, indigestion and a loss of appetite or taste for food. Sunset Yellow is banned in Norway.
Iron oxide yellow: Oxides are the rust that forms on iron and are all toxic.
Titanium di oxide in food and cosmetics might harm your brain.
Brilliant blue: side effects can be blue-tinged skin, urine, and faeces, as well as hypotension and death.

I threw the whole lot into the garbage bin!

PLEASE analyse your dietary supplements and your medication for the contents before you put them into your system. You can replace the supplements with fresh food…I did. Instead of those toxic capsules I eat fresh turmeric pickled in brine every day.
